Taxis are available right outside the arrivals terminal. The fare for the journey to Heraklion city is around €20, and the ride takes about 10 minutes. Taxis in Heraklion are gray with a rooftop sign, and they can carry 3-4 passengers depending on the vehicle type. Be aware of potential waiting times at the taxi rank, which can take 20-30 minutes depending on the time of year and your arrival time. Additionally, not all taxi drivers speak English, which could create communication challenges.
Rental Car Transfer
For a rental car, it’s recommended to book online a few days before your arrival to secure a better price. You can pick up your vehicle at the airport upon arrival. Prices for rental cars start at €70 per day, depending on the type of vehicle. You will need your ID or passport, driver’s license, and a credit card.
Private Transfer
If you opt for a private transfer, you should book at least 12 hours before your arrival. The driver will meet you at the arrivals area, assist with your luggage, and take you to the car.
